Fishing on the Wild Side

Mike Fry doesn’t only live on the Wild Side of Tasmania, but also goes fishing in probably the wildest boat ever to troll for trout—certainly in Tasmania.
When your mate says ‘What are you doing tomorrow, want to come up the Gordon for the night?’ it would be pretty hard to say anything else except “you bet” and start checking out your tackle box and packing your overnight bag. But if your mate was Troy Grining and he wanted to give his new 52ft, high speed cruiser a run across Macquarie Harbour, test the new onboard dory with a chance of landing a nice Gordon River Brown you would have to feel privileged. I didn’t say anything about getting on my hands and knees and kissing his feet…just having a lend of ya’ but I did feel very appreciative.

Fun and Fund Raising Evening for the Tasmanian members of the 2011 Australian Fly Fishing Team
You are invited to an evening of fun and fund raising to support the Tasmanian Members of the Australian Fly Fishing Team who are competing in the 2011 World Fly Fishing Championships in Italy.

Craig Carey, Joe Riley and Ian Donnachy all won their way through to represent Australia and this is your chance to help them on their way.
There will be a lucky door prize, monster raffle and some great items up for auction.
• Huon pine fly box with 200 Joe Riley flies.
• New Simpson washing machine
• New dishlex dishwasher
• New Stokes stainless steel urn
• One day guided fishing with Chris Bassano
• One day river fishing (secret location) John Donnachy
• One day guided fishing with Jonothan Stagg

This is only part of the huge range on offer on the night.
The team members will also be presented with their Australian Fly Fishing Team Blazer during the evening, and will incorporate the medal presentation for the 2011 Tasmanian Fly Fishing Championship.

Cost: $25 p.p includes Hors d’oeuvres for the evening and a donation to the team members.
