Went fishing with my son at Weymouth this morning, the first 15 minutes we caught 1 cod and 2 very nice size Flathead ...guess what I'm having for dinner tonight?

The weather has finally given me the motivation to go for a fish; Trev was pretty keen to give the bream a go as well, so we headed off to the Swan River to give them a go. We arrived there around 11.30 this morning to a slight breeze and soon had the boat on the water.

We went around the back of Maria Island on the 17th of August , I was with Paul (my boyfriend), Gretel (my daughter) and Esta (our dog). My dad had been round there the weekend before and did okay, so we thought we'd try it out. We hadn't been on a fishing trip on the new boat (a 35 Caribbean) so seemed a great place to go on such a beautiful day. We were using soft plastics, although I'm not sure which ones.

Hi mike, thought you might be interested in seeing what my hubby Chris caught on a line a few weeks ago just off Port Sorell. We took a couple of pics then returned it back to the waters. We hadn't caught or seen one of these before but researched and found it was a saw shark.

After few discussions about last weeks sensational Squid fishing, my dad was dead keen to head to the coast for some action. Whilst he doesn’t mind a feed of Calamari now and again he had been drilling me about the Garfish situation and how that was faring in Georges Bay.
The winter months, as a matter of fact anywhere from April to September, are prime time in St Helens for Garfish and the reports I had been hearing over the last few weeks of plentiful catches and big gars had me and the old man ready for a session.
Just had a few days at Georges Bay and was amazed at the size of the calamari. The specimen in the photo had a hood length of 43 centimetres and I caught another at 44cm.
The top lure was a pink Yamashita Egi Live I borrowed from Mike Stevens. Apparently they absorb light and are slightly warmer than the surrounding water. Recently Atlantic salmon seems to be a very hot topic amongst local anglers, especially those in the south of the state in the D'Entrecasteaux area. Northern anglers should take a close look at the Tamar as there are opportunities here as well.
