Bosnia 2015 Report Number Four

Now before anyone starts asking where report number three is, let me explain. We have been very, very busy and each day I have been writing a report. For the past ten days, I have written about the day's activities but at no time was I up to date. I would almost finish before something came up and I would then get back to it the following day.

Bosnia 2015 Report Two

We are all together now and enjoying Bosnia but getting here was not quite as easy as we had hoped. Where do I start? Fortunately, I made it across a busy airport to get my last flight in Paris but my bag did not. Arriving in Zagreb, I had that sick feeling you get when you realise everyone has left the terminal, the carousel has stopped and no matter how long you stare at the plastic flaps, your bag is not coming out! The ladies in the "bag office" were lovely although there were a lot of them! Lost bags are clearly quite common in this part of the world.

World Fly Fishing Championships, Bosnia, 2015

Report One
Thank you all for your contributions towards getting this team to Bosnia and the world fly fishing championships, 2015. All of those receiving this email have helped in some way to enable us (as self-funded fishermen) to have this opportunity. Again, thank you!
In Norway, two years ago, I wrote a regular report on all things fishing and social from the campaign and I will endeavour to do the same this year. For those who did not get those reports, please note that my spelling at times can be terrible and with "word recognition" working on my iPad, there may be occasions when you have no idea what I am trying to say. I do not have the time to read over what I have written so please excuse all of these mistakes. You will just have to take it as it comes. As you will see, I clearly have been lucky to work with very good magazine editors when my writing has gone to print!
If at any stage you have some questions or want to know more about anything in particular, please email me and I will get around to answering. Many people had questions about the gear we were using in Norway so I will try to add this into the text where appropriate.

eddie-wigston-2015-bEddie Wigston Memorial Trout Contest 2015

The very last Eddie Wigston Memorial Trout Contest was held on the 15th and 16th of March 2015, in the Bronte Park region of the Tasmanian lake country. Unlike recent years the weather was magnificent with Saturday just about as good as it gets for trout fishing in March.
It was another very successful event and one with mixed feelings being the finale to 23rd memorable years. With this event marking 25yrs since the passing of Eddie Wigston the family felt it was a suitable time to wrap up the event and mark the 25 year legacy in 2015.
It was not an easy decision with Garth and Stuart Wigston sharing some emotional words to the crowd throughout the presentation. While the event will be missed all attending this and previous years expressed their thanks and gratitude to the Wigston Family and all involved in hosting the past 23 contests.
It will be remembered as one of the best family orientated fishing competitions in the state and this year once again all the young junior entrants received a substantial prize to take home from Plano tackle boxes loaded with Tassie Devils to rod and reel combos vouchers from tackle stores around the state.

TRIABUNNA SEAFEST Weekend 2015 MARCH 27, 28, 29.

The Triabunna SEAFEST was a fabulous event that had people talking in the fishing circles for months after. Those that were there said they loved it and those that missed it wished they had been able to make it. We aim to build on what we all helped deliver last year. Not looking to re-invent the wheel, but to make give a great event some life into the future. The locals and visitors alike supported last year’s event and we look forward a community event that has a little something for everyone.

Final Round (3) of the Tasmanian Trout Fishing Classic

The final round of the Lowrance TAS Trout Classic series could not have got any closer. The Cranka Lures Arthurs Lake round produced the second three way tie for series and kept up the count back system deciding each and every one of the three rounds.
The weather was fantastic, almost too good on Saturday but no one was going to complain after the horrendous conditions on the Great Lake in round two.
Teams gathered at the Great Lake Hotel on Friday night for the compulsory briefing where crowd favourite Robert ‘Bobby’ Ling was drawn out of the hat as the lucky recipient of the LOX Ambassador Series Hybrid Rod. The Calcutta was as always highly entertaining and would ultimately play out as a true form guide for the round ahead.
Teams headed out of Jonah Bay on Arthurs Lake at 7am Saturday morning. Spreading far and wide across the water. Conditions were warm and the sun was very hot after some low cloud cleared in the first hour. It made for some difficult fishing but bags didn’t really show it.
