Little Pine 12/10/2013

John Fordham and myself decided to head up the lakes mid friday afternoon, plenty of wind forcast along with a few showers. Hopefully we should find somewhere sheltered to have a flick. We arrived at Dereks Shack, unloaded the gear and went for a drive to check out some possibles. We came back to the shack and settled down for the night, watched TV and some video’s and decided we would head for Little Pine.
On arriveing the next morning about nine, there wasn't any other boats around, only a couple fishing the back shore. There was plenty of wind and the odd shower and gust of wind that was blowing spray accross the water. Thinking was this good or bad idea - oh well we are here now so we put the boat in and headed to the dam end. We started drifting and after about 10 casts John was on and a brown was landed and kepted. A little bit further and John was on again with fish kept as well. We had a few more drifts for nothing, so i decided to change my line and we headed for the other end of the lake getting to a spot about two thirds down.
We started drifting again, wasnt long and I had a grab but didnt stick. along a bit further and another grad fish on then gone, checked my flys and one was busted off - bugger. So put a new one on and had a few casts and i was on also felt a second hit and getting the fish closer to the boat it was a double hook-up both landed.
We kept around that area for the next couple of hours where John managed another two fish and one dropped. I managed another four fish boated, eight dropped and missed over a dozen fish on the hang as they were hard to see with the rough water and windy conditions and I was to slow tightening up on them as we were moveing pretty quick. So besides the crap conditions it wasnt a bad day, The fish we caught wern't big fish but great eating size and excellent condition for family and friends.
Cheers Craig
