A self-administered mail questionnaire was used to collect social and economic data from Tasmanian rock lobster licence holders. Questions pertained to fisher's demographic characteristics, fishing participation patterns and preferences, fishing attitudes and experience preferences, and expenditure relating to rock lobster fishing. Rock Lobster Rules Review UpdateTasmanian Association for Recreational Fishing Inc The Rock Lobster Management Plan Review commenced in April 2009 with the current set of rules in place until February 2011. Since the review commenced TARFish have been involved in meetings with the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment (DIPWE) and the Tasmanian Rock Lobster Fisherman’s Association (TRLFA), the commercial rock lobster fishers. The meetings have been to understand the issues the fishery faces and what measures may be required to ensure the rock lobster fishery is sustainable for all stakeholders into the future.

 Tamar Report May 15th 2010
Went out again last night as conditions were perfect and we knew it would be a while before we struck the tides and everything "just right" like it is at the moment. We also had to factor in that I had couple of children wanting to go urgently after the previous night with Dale where we scored a few and they were left at home. |

Flounder Report 15th May 2010  With the trout season now closed for Trev and myself at least (we don't bother with the waters still open from now on), we thought we would head down the Tamar and try for a feed of Flounder.

 Bluefin Tuna Report May 2010
Henry Terry caught this super bluefin on Saturday 8 May at Eaglehawk Neck. It took 2.25 hours to land it on 24kg line and weighed 101kg.
Plenty of smaller ones about and lots free jumping!
Plenty of seals as well just to test your patience.

Devonport fishing report May 2010

Fishing around Devonport in the last couple of weeks has been fantastic for anglers dropping a line in between the rain and or the wind. The Mersey has been producing some fantastic Silver Trevally up to a kilo. Most have been smaller juveniles but anglers taking the time to berley have been catching good numbers with the odd bigger fish amongst them. |

IFS Hatchery and Stocking Report, May 2010 by Sarah Graham - Inland Fisheries Service  As the weather cools and water temperatures begin to drop, the activities of Inland Fisheries hatchery staff are hotting up! Hatchery work of fish feeding and grading has increased over recent weeks, along with fish transfers to allocated waters, and the job of harvesting eggs from spawning wild brown trout in the Central Plateau, has come earlier than in recent years.

As a recreational fisher we would like you to participate as a recreational research angler. Next time you go fishing for bream and keep a few, place your frames in a plastic bag with a label stating the date, capture estuary, your name and contact details. |

Tooms Lake Fishing Report Saturday 1st May 2010
 A few of my mates and myself decided to have one final fling before "Seasons end" , organizing a BBQ, casual day out and any fish we caught ....would be viewed as a bonus.
