I had plenty of time to think. Over four hours of staring out a bus window non-stop can become a little boring; but with music from my walkman pumping, I just sat and tried to imagine what the weekend would offer. Hopefully big fish.

Lake Naomi

Lake Naomi is located on Curena Creek and is representative of the myriad of lakes and tarns in Tasmania’s Central Plateau Conservation Area (CPCA). It offers the special wilderness fishing experience so unique to this part of the island state.

Jans Flies

The flies in this issue, a Black Nymph, Green Gold Bead Head and Chain Eye Nymph, are normally fished from a boat as the added weight generally makes them too heavy to fish in shallow water. However, they can be fished dead drift under a large buoyant indicator.

Tubing for trout

Maybe I am biased, but I just love float tubing for trout in Tasmania’s still waters. I cut my teeth fishing from one on Mitchelsons Dam, near Westbury, but have tubed on many still waters since. It is some what akin to fly fishing from an arm chair – a pleasant way to spend the day.
