Calamari at Georges Bay

Just had a few days at Georges Bay and was amazed at the size of the calamari. The specimen in the photo had a hood length of 43 centimetres and I caught another at 44cm.
The top lure was a pink Yamashita Egi Live I borrowed from Mike Stevens. Apparently they absorb light and are slightly warmer than the surrounding water. Lake St.Clair 22/1/2012

I fished with Bailey, arrived on Saturday around 11.30am to 8pm, fished in the Derwent Basin and around the Frankland beaches area. What a fantastic spot to fish, scenery outstanding and no crowds as we were the only boat on the lake.

Just why the Lake St Clair system has failed to become very popular among anglers is a mystery. It is undoubtedly one of the very best trout fisheries in Tasmania today - and I suspect that it always has been.
